What is  the Due Date for Tax Filing? FY 2019-20, AY 2020-21 And A.Y 2019-20

For the FY 2019-20, the due date for all taxpayers stands extended (COVID-19 relief measures) to 30th November 2020. Here’s the table of the Extended due dates for Financial Year 2019-20 for different categories of taxpayers:

Body of Individuals 30th November 2020
Hindu Undivided Family (HUF) 30th November 2020
Association of Persons (AOP) 30th November 2020
Businesses (Audited Firm) 30th November 2020
Extension in date of filing of Tax Audit Report for FY 2019-20 (AY 2020-21) 31st  October 2020

Category of Taxpayer Due Date for Tax Filing – Financial Year 2018-19 A.Y 2019-20
Return of income for the assessment year 2019-20 for all assesses (due date extension for income tax return)

The due date for filing of return of income under section 139 for the A.Y 2019-20 has been extended to  30th September  2020 vide the Taxation and Other Laws (Relaxation of Certain Provisions) Ordinance, 2020 read with Notification No. 35 /2020, dated 24-June-2020 and Notification No. 56/2020, dated 29-July-2020.

Extension in date of making investments u/s 80C for FY 2019-20 (AY 2020-21)

Income Tax Assesses whose investment under PPF, NSC or any other tax saving scheme was not done up to March 31, 2020 then that can be made up to July 31, 2020. Maximum benefit of Rs. 1,50,000/- can be taken.
